I have been trudging across the West Country in an extremely comfortable pair of Lady Rimini walking shoes by Grisport for the last 8 months. This was after a wrong turn with a pair of shoes that were wrecking my feet and my health! 

I have to be honest. I am not into technical outdoor wear. I’ll spend on a decent pair of low walking shoes that get me about town and across the hills and trails I enjoy, with my feet intact. 

I turned to Grisport after my husband insisted that his rather clunky pair of men’s Grisport  Modena shoes (see review) were the best thing that ever happened to his feet! He is now fanatical about these premium Italian walking shoes and insisted that I should try them. 

…so this is a 100% unfiltered review of the Lady Rimini shoes I’ve come to love, which covers all you need to know before buying a pair of Grisport ladies’ walking shoes. I’ve included just about everything but the smell!

Description

The Lady Rimini is one of the lightest walking shoes on the market with a total weight of 680 grams. This is one of the best things about these shoes. Though they are supportive, they don’t weight you down, which makes all the difference after a long walk!

These are some blue suede shoes you won’t mind someone stepping on!  

The suede uppers are soft and comfortable. When I got these shoes, my feet really needed support, and I worried that the suede would be too soft to keep them “contained”. The contribution of the speed lacing pleasantly surprised me, as it really held my feet to the shoe so I could walk naturally.  

The blue colour has held up and stayed clean with little more than a light brush.I have trekked these shoes through:

• Fields
• Mudflats
• Sandy beaches
• Shingle
• Puddles and streams

and as you can see, they still look fairly decent. I didn’t protect the suede before wearing the shoes, but I am sure that a Scotchgard spray would keep them looking great. 

Sizing and fit

I am a larger lady, who is on the upper end of a size 8 and have found that these shoes fit perfectly. I think that they will be fine for normal to slightly wide feet. When purchasing European sizing (42) shoes can run a little small, but these are true to size. They also do half sizes in this style.

Detailing

Here are some of the little details I appreciate about the Lady Rimini shoe:

• An intuitive pulling tab on the back of the shaft helps me get my shoes on easily. 
• A cozy, supportive tongue that opens up the shoe when you fold it back.
• By folding away the tongue, the shaft opens and my foot can enter easily.
• A generous length of quality laces. Do you double-lace like me? If not, you may find these a little too long!
• The black codura toe cap is genius and keeps the shoes looking smart long term. 

Construction

The first thing to say is that these are not the shoes for taking on the Tors of Dartmoor – the uppers simply do not have the strength. They are more suitable for trails or coastal paths, or tramping around town. But the support is great, it has a decent shank, and it is very flexible with decent lateral support. 

Top marks for the Vibram sole

The sole is very low maintenance and almost cleans itself. It has a good grip that enables you to tread confidently on a variety of surfaces, including mud. Dirt rarely sticks to these shoes.
